Friday's Fancies: The Little White Dress

Happy, happy Friday!

Since I was away last weekend, I missed linking up for Friday's Fancies. I asked {av} if it would be ok if I used last week's theme for this week- it really is too good to miss! We're always hearing and reading about the LBD (little black dress) and how to style it, where to wear it, and all the variations that are available. However, I believe that the 'little white dress' is completely underrated and just doesn't get the attention that it deserves. Shame on the more popular, older sister for stealing the spotlight.

So, for today's Friday's Fancies, I'm celebrating the versatility and loveliness of the LWD and sharing some exciting ways to style this fabulous wardrobe staple.

(Chunky bangles from the always charming Kate Spade would surely
add some sparkle to your LWD)

(A neon colored satchel would be the perfect accessory next to a short white dress)

(A swipe of the new Kate Spade lipstick would definitely do the trick!
How about that second color?!)

(A bold hair piece I feel certain would turn heads)

(A sparkly mermaid manicure would look tres chic with a little white dress)

(A spritz of your favorite summer fragrance is an absolute must!)

(Can you imagine draping these gems around your neck?! The possibilities are endless!)

(For the ultimate 'little white dress,' I think those feathers add the most perfect touch)

(And, of course, a pretty little rock never takes away from an outfit)

My take on the LWD is quite simple- bold accessories. I love the contrast of the bright pink shoes and bag accompanied with the simplicity of the white dress. And frankly, an outfit is never complete without a little sparkle.

Bright Red Lips

For those who know me well (and even those of you who only know me through my blog), you know how much I love bright lips. I personally don't think there's any better (or more glamorous) accessory a girl can throw on than a pop of color across her pout. I believe there's a flattering color out there for every stylish lady, you just have to look. And, really, what better way to make an entrance or catch someone's eye?! When I came across this breathtaking photo shoot I was instantly smitten. I imagine on my wedding day having bright lips (and nails) just like the beauties in these images.

Doesn't it make for some truly stunning photos?!

Swoon. . .

Semi - Wordless Wednesday: Fresh Flowers

(Images via 1, 2)

There's nothing I love more than having my home filled with fresh flowers. They make every room seem so much brighter and more inviting. I picked up a couple bouquets before my friends came this past weekend- one for my mantle and one for the entry table. Well, lucky us, after the wedding reception on Saturday, the groom's mama told us to take one of the gorgeous centerpieces home. Ashley decided to leave her arrangement with me since she was traveling, and Lauren decided to take the mason jar but leave her flowers with me, too. I quickly found spots in the house for the two whole bunches, and ended up splitting Lauren's arrangement into little bouquets all over the house.

The wedding colors were pink and orange, and need less to say,
the flowers were stunning. . .

(There was mint in the arrangements!)

Sangria Ice Pops

 (Images via 1, 2, 3)

I love sangria almost as much as I love mojitos- not quite as much but almost. A couple weeks ago I was searching for popsicle recipes so I could finally use the molds that I searched high and low for. I came across this yummy sangria ice pops recipe and knew it would be the perfect frozen summer treat. While they were a little too sweet for B, I thought they were delicious! I've been thinking up tons of variations for the future using pineapple chunks, orange juice instead of grape juice, adding some strawberries, and maybe even a little mint!

Gather ingredients.

Chop fruit and combine ingredients.

Freeze and enjoy!

I promise, it's that simple!

I had some sangria left over after filling the molds. It's hard for me to gauge how many pops the recipe actually makes since the mold sizes are going to vary. The Food Network says 10-12 pops.

I think these would be great to serve at a cookout, cocktail party, or after a taco dinner. Tacos and sangria? What a perfect combination!
