Emily and Estée Lauder.

The incredibly inspring Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere has now added another dynamite collaboration to her resumé (others include her girly pink Coach bag design). She has teamed up with cosmetics company Estée Lauder as a guest blogger, and I'm convinced they couldn't have picked a better lady for the job! She'll be contriubting beauty tips, wedding make-up details, and sharing videos shot exclusively for the collaboration. The first post went live yesterday and you can read the 'meet Emily' introduction here. Watch this video to gain a better understanding of just how charming she really is!

Fashion week is officially underway, and I'm simply giddy to see what's in store for fall. It seems this week rolls around so quickly, we hardly have time to blink and we're already discussing furs in the middle of spring or pastels in the middle of winter. Fashion keeps us on our toes, to say the least, and I'm certain there will be breathtaking collections from veterans and surprisingly aspirational shows from fashion's rising stars over the next week.

Hi, everyone!

Brad and I are off this weekend to his hometown for an engagement celebration hosted by his parents. It should be an incredible party. I can't wait to meet, mix, and mingle with all the people I've heard so much about from Brad's life. My party dress and patent heels are ready to go!

As you may have noticed, my posting over the past few months has been unpredictable. As a result of my busy schedule and life events that are far too important to not give my full time and attention, I'm going to be taking a break from regular blogging.

This blog has become an outlet for me, at times, to cope with hectic situations and stress. This place has been my release. Unfortunately, though, at this point, it is best for me to walk away for a while and regroup and refocus.

It may not seem worthy of an entire post, but I felt I owed you an explanation considering the loyalty you've shown me.

I'll be posting occasionally, just not everyday or even every week. In the meantime, I'll still be tumbling, pinning, and tweeting. You're welcomed to join me there.

Fashion Resolution: White Out

Weekend Wishes: Warm & Cozy

It's currently twenty-four degrees here and snow is whisping through the air. While we didn't get a full snow day, we were on a snow schedule this morning. Those extra moments to snooze under the plaid fluffy comforter with the ceiling fan on low were absolute bliss. Of course, Millie was snuggled right up next to me the whole time.

Brad and I are hoping for a relaxing, laid back weekend with no real plan that we have to follow. I'm thinking it's the perfect weekend for a big pot of homemade soup!

Wedding Details

As most of you know (and certainly my closest friends) I have an obsession for details. Right down to the tiniest little thing. So, it would come as no surprise as our wedding plans have started to unfold, I've taken quite the liking to all those little things that sometimes go unnoticed or forgotten. And since we still have about seven months until the big day, I have plenty of time to obsess over my favorite pieces of the wedding puzzle!

I'm definitely going with pearls, but the options and details are endless.
Clasps? Ribbons? Multiple strands? One color? Multi-color?

When I came across this gorgeous design by Vera Wang I knew it had to be part of our wedding! The flutes and cake carving set are a definite, but then I found all these other items for the home, too.

Sure it may be a detail that not everyone thinks about, but it's one that makes me quite excited. My sweet friend, SP has already offered to design our ribbon as a wedding gift- I can't wait to see what she comes up with!

We've already discussed this must-have detail with our florist/decorator. Again, so many options!

Thank you for another fantastic year here at Brown Eyed Belle. I simply can't thank you enough. If I could send each of you a handwritten note, I would.

Two-thousand eleven was full of wonderful moments - blog love, tumbling, birthdays, my favorite things, lots of pink and green, and inspirations galore. A Week in Black & White

What started as a complete accident, quickly turned into a fashion game for me last week. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I inadvertently put together combinations of black and white for my outfits. When I realized Wednesday morning that I had 'done it again,' I decided I needed to carry the trend through the week!

I can't tell you how fun it was to dress with a certain color combination in mind everyday. I'm a neutral girl in the winter anyway, so black and white was quite a fun combo for my first little fashion experiment like this.

Holiday Traditions

I'm always intrigued to discover the traditions that families practice during the holiday season. When I was growing up, our routine was the same every year- great grandma's for dinner on Christmas eve, then to grandma's for gifts on Christmas eve, and saving all the Santa gifts for Christmas morning. As I've gotten older and eventually moved away and out on my own, my family's traditions have changed. For the past three years the holidays have been spent at my townhouse, as opposed to my childhood home.

And this year, more than ever, new family traditions will be created as this is the first Christmas for Brad and me! While there are times that I miss those exciting moments from my childhood, the thoughts of establishing new traditions leaves me equally excited.

What will our new traditions be? Will it take us a few years to really get in the swing of things as two families become one? Will the traditions change again once we have children (many years from now!)?

The possibilities are endless and leave me completely giddy with excitement!

Hello, sweet friends, and happy Monday!

We're only a couple weeks away from Christmas- can you believe it?! One of my favorite pieces of the holiday season is the gift wrapping. All the paper and ribbon combinations you can create are endless! I was happy to find that my sweet friend Sandy, from Ooh La Frou Frou, created the most wonderful gift tags that you can add to your own packages! The beautiful illustrations were done by her, and she was kind enough to provide printable sheets for us to enjoy!

Simply click here, scroll to the bottom where the PDF files are located, click to open them, and print! She still has the 2010 tags listed, too!

I recommend printing them on card stock, punching a hole in the top and looping your favorite ribbon through to attach them to your presents. It will be a lovely and thoughtful surprise for everyone on your gift list!

Brad is even getting these little tags attached to all his Christmas goodies!

Kiki & Coco: A Girly Tea Party

A while back I wrote about the lovely images photographer Stephanie Rausser captured of her daughter on a trip to Paris- Kiki & Coco in Paris. Imagine my surprise when I received a lovely message in my inbox informing me that those images have recently been transformed into a book by the same name! What a fabulous gift for any little 'Kiki!'

Through this email I was also introduced to the most charming tea salon that will host a Kiki & Coco in Paris book signing and reading this Friday. Crown & Crumpet is a San Francisco-based establishment that is truly every girly girl's dream! The photos below prove it! Stephanie Rausser, Nina Gruener (author of the book), and Jess Brown (designer of the charming doll, Coco, featured in the Parisian adventure) will be present at the event for lots of mixing and mingling with guests.

Since writing the post on Monday, all the girls who will serve as my attendants have been contacted via these darling cards created by the incredibly talented Kate Gabrielle. You select the hair color and style, and color of the dress, Kate does the rest! Aren't they just adorable?!

Let me be the first to say, this is one of the most special ways to ask your girls to be a part of your wedding. The responses I've gotten have been so precious. I also had Kate create cards for a junior bridesmaid and two flower girls.

There are truly no words that fully express my emotions as I write this post. I believe now more than ever, I have been blessed with the greatest love a girl could ask for.

What started as a long holiday vacation to visit Brad's family, ended in us becoming engaged and me having the most sparkly, breathtaking ring on my finger I could have ever imagined.

We've been discussing marriage for some time now, and had already set a date for next summer. Brad had taken my parents to dinner and asked for their blessing, as well. However, I was completely taken by surprise last Wednesday when he dropped to one knee on his grandfather's farm and asked me to be his wife.

It was the most special, unforgettable moment of my life. In perfect Julie fashion, I first started to cry then proceeded to dance and twirl around.

Brad and I are over the moon to soon become Mr. and Mrs., and I can't wait to share every step of our journey with you!

I've tweeted and blogged a couple times lately about a special collaboration that was in the works for me. I'm thrilled today to make the official announcement that I will be a contributing blogger to Society Social's blog, The Social Diary!

If you aren't familiar with Society Social, click back to this post I did in August when the fabulous company launched. One of my favorite weekends of the year has finally arrived, and I simply couldn't be happier! For those of you who have a strong bond with your alma mater, you know how special homecoming celebrations can be- the chill in the air, being reunited with friends you haven't seen in a while, laughs shared while tailgating, cheering on the home team to a victory, dressing in a cozy sweater and boots for the first time of the season- it's all so magical!

My best friends are staying with me for the next three days, and my excitement is through the roof! Can't wait to share pictures and memories with you next week.

In my world, it's classified as a 'neutral.' I wear leopard flats, bags, and other accessories anytime with just about anything. So you can imagine my excitement when the leopard loafer craze broke loose. I'm fairly certain that these shoes are just as versatile as your favorite ballet or pointy toe flats (even though at first glance it may not seem that way). This is one spotted bandwagon that I just can't resist jumping on!

Falling for H & M

Oh my goodness, happy Friday, my loves!

To kick off this fall weekend I want to share the gorgeous new Conscious Collection from H&M. The deep hues and bold prints are exactly what I'm envisioning for the new pieces I'm adding to my wardrobe for fall and winter. In my opinion, fall and winter are far more fun to dress for than spring and summer. All the layers and the endless possibilities for print mixing give me the extra boost I need on those chilly mornings. Also, I'm thinking that the bag in last picture would make the perfect go-to, everyday purse for any fall/winter outing.

Simple Fall Decorating

Nothing says fall like colorful, cozy arrangements of mums and pumpkins at one's front door. I love fall decorating probably as much as Christmas. It's much less high maintenance and creates the same warm feeling in your home. This year I simplified my decorations a bit, focusing more on single bold pieces rather than lots of little elements. Overall, I'm thrilled with the results, inside and outside.

(I don't have a lot of room at the front door of my townhouse, but what little room I have, I try to maximize all of its potential.)

(I love to dress up pumpkin stems with fall ribbon- I think it adds the perfect touch. And I've never incorporated purple mums into my outdoor decor until this year, and I love it!)

(My lovely monogram garden flag from Trishy still fits in perfectly with all the orange and yellow. I found a great new wreath this year at TJ Maxx that I just couldn't pass up.)

(This gorgeous jeweled sunflower came from Hobby Lobby and adds just the right amount of sparkle at my entryway.)

(New sunflowers and seasonal candles are staples in my indoor fall decorating.)

(This arrangement of jeweled pumpkins and corks was a complete accident, but I love the way it looks. I filled my two apothecary jars on my buffet with leaf garland this year, for a change.)

(My mantle is always a favorite spot to decorate. This year I chose a very simple arrangement complete with a vase of orange twigs, new glass pumpkins atop my old candle holders, and a fluffy strand of garland.)

(I don't think any decor is complete without fresh seasonal flowers. For the first week of fall, I displayed two pretty purple arrangements on the entry table and the stove top.)

There you have it, simple fall decorating that adds just the right touch of coziness to your abode! I rarely subscribe to the 'less is more' theory, but when it comes to seasonal decor, I even surprise myself!

As we're all following along with the spring fashion shows in New York, fall trends are just starting to pop up in our favorite stores, magazines, and blogs. For me, fall is kind of a strange season- sometimes it can be quite difficult to find the right combination of layers to last through the day. Regardless of the frustrations we face, there's no denying that fall fashions truly are fun. For some reason, I always get far more excited about pulling out my sweater dresses, tights, and boots than the barely-there pieces for spring and summer. I simply can't get enough of this gorgeous, twisty wedding hairstyle! Is that striped grosgrain ribbon not the most darling touch?! The way it coordinates with the bouquet wrapping is simply beautiful. When I came across this photo shoot I was mesmerized by the way the stylist seems to have woven the ribbon through the bride's hair. What a modern, fun take on the traditional wedding up-do- I must figure out how to recreate this style (a little more simplified) for everyday wear!

There's something about pale pinks and blush tones that set a mood of happiness and peace. Considering it's Monday again and it was far too difficult to roll out of my warm bed this morning, I can't think of a better color palette to start the week.

After seeing this gorgeous post by Jamie, I couldn't resist being inspired to pull together my own Breakfast at Tiffany's. It seems that the very mention of the famous Audrey Hepburn film brings ladies everywhere into near squeals of delight. The LBD, the tiara, the romance, the sunglasses, New York City- it's enough to send any hopeless romantic into a daydream. The glitz and the glamour of Breakfast at Tiffany's has always inspired me to add classic pieces to my wardrobe, throw on some sparkle when I'm feeling a little blue, and embrace the little things that make life so sweet.
