That Coat

Hands-down my favorite coat from the fall collections at NYFW was this beauty by Delpozo. The colors of the plaid remind me of a tropical sunset. For a cool $3500 it can be all yours ;)

When it comes to fashion, we're always living in the future. It isn't even spring yet and we're already discussing the trends for fall. There are still plenty of collections to see throughout the month, but so far there's lots of gorgeous color to look forward to for fall. Nearly every collection has sent something pink down the runway - you know how I feel about that. Blushes and brights alike, often paired with a lovely neutral. You can browse my favorite looks throughout the month on pinterest.

Three Looks for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Style 1

Thanksgiving Style 2

Thanksgiving Style 3

I'm getting very excited about the coming holiday season that officially gets underway on Thursday. In my family, Thanksgiving has always been an enjoyable day that didn't require a lot of hustle and bustle - just lots of time spent with family and friends. We (mom and I) always make sure we're up in time to watch the parade on television, eat breakfast together, and cook whatever is on our list to bring for the meal. Dad is usually hanging somewhere on the fringe of whatever we're up to. For my family, Thanksgiving dress has always been pretty casual, too - jeans and a sweater fit in nicely. Check out all the options above for some Turkey Day style inspiration!

See It. Need It.

Sometimes I see something and won't rest until I make it mine. Case in point, this scarf from Zara. Cathy and Lacey were both wearing it on Saturday when we went out to Greenhill. I was immediately obsessed and knew that I had to have it. Unfortunately, at the time, the camel color was sold out online. I added my name to the "contact me when it's available" list and at 6:30 yesterday morning my scarf dreams came true. I can't wait for it to get here and, most likely, wear it nonstop. What pieces are you chasing after right now?!

My Style: One Boot // Three Ways with Sole Society

Booties are my go-to for fall and winter (evidence here, here, and here). I love the way they look with nearly everything in my closet. My mom often reminds me, "They don't go with everything, babe." Ok, fine, I'll give her that but they do go with most outfits - or maybe I just put together outfits that are bootie-approved. Regardless, I love them and I've been wearing out this pair from Sole Society. I've collaborated with them today to share three different ideas for styling the incredibly versatile Kelsa Bootie. I opted for the black because of the practicality but they also come in a gorgeous oxblood and mushroom. See my outfit details below!

My Style: Transition

The transition into fall can sometimes be a tricky one. I hear my mom too often say, "It's so hard to dress for this weather!" While I do agree with her, over the years I like to think that I've perfected my transitioning wardrobe - mostly with the help of scarves and tights. I pride myself on being able to maximize the wear of most of the pieces in my closet simply by adding an extra layer, a scarf, and/or tights. I was thrilled when Hanes sent over these tights for me to test out as I ease into the cooler temperatures. They have a great selection of legwear exclusively available in Wal-Mart stores and all for under $6 a pop! I love this particular pair because they aren't completely opaque and work well with the current temperatures in Virginia. See more photos of how I styled this look below.

Coat Diaries

I feel like with each cold-weather season there's a new trend in coats. Last year I was on a never-ending search for the perfect leopard coat (like the one seen below on Caitlin) and never succeeded. This year, I'm fairly certain that leopard is still in the running but blush pink (shock!) is a very close contender. Outerwear is underrated, if you ask me, and in order to evaluate my own closet and decide on new pieces to add, I did some research went on a pinterest spree and settled on these images as my favorites - subject to change, of course, as my mood sees fit.

Print Mix: Camo & Leopard

I know it may not be for everyone, and there was a time when I never would have thought camo could be chic, but as you know from previous posts, I'm hooked. I don't own a lot and I wear it in moderation, but there's something tough that I like about it. Granted, it ends up with a girly twist when I'm done with it, but it's unexpected for me and a little out of my comfort zone. I came home from work on Tuesday and after taking care of Millie, I had to rush back out to meet my parents for dinner. I wore the outfit above to work without the jacket but decided for the evening air that I should throw on something light-weight. Behold my latest print-mix obsession. . .

J. Crew: 3 Looks for Fall

J. Crew 1

J. Crew 2

J. Crew 3

As usual, I want one of everything from J. Crew's latest arrivals. They never disappoint with classic staples (this skirt), trendy options (these pants), and always-stylish shoes (these boots). I pulled together a few looks that I'm currently loving and think would be perfect transition outfits, but could easily be layered when the temperatures drop significantly in the coming months. I don't like to play favorites, but I'm a big fun of that camel sweater. . .

My Style: Burgundy Lace

Welcome back from the weekend, friends! In addition to celebrating homecoming last week, I experienced another rite of passage at my new school on Saturday night - chaperoning the homecoming dance. I have to say, some things don't change - songs that I danced to in high school were played, teachers broke up teenagers making out, and girls wore sparkly everything and made sure their dates matched them to a T. It was fun and amusing and gave me a great excuse to get dressed up. Have I mentioned how much I love my job?!

Ok, about the outfit - this dress is one of my favorite transitioning pieces. It's rich color, seasonal fabric, and three-quarter sleeves make it perfect for the chilly temperatures that are becoming an everyday experience. It also pairs great with tights, a scarf, and boots for a more casual look. Now, I just need to add some more lace to my closet!
